Citizens can greatly improve sea turtles conservation efforts!

Our daily activities causes harm to the environment in general and to sea turtles in particular. Use natural materials and recycle - Discarded plastic and in particular plastic bags present great danger to sea turtles. When floating in the sea plastic bags look much like gelatinous organisms so se turtles can accidentally ingest them. When visiting sandy beaches inform yourself if there are se turtles nests there. Driving on sandy beaches can cause nest destruction. Garbage can cause harm to young turtles. Speed boats can cause physical injuries to basking sea turtles. Reduce your speed when you are in areas of greater sea turtles abundance. Use our ScienCitizen app for mobile phones and report your observations! Your reports will greatly improve our knowledge of sea turtles distribution and help us identify importanmt areas.
