Caretta caretta nests on Italian beaches are constantly increasing

From the beginning of June to September 2019, WWF operators found and protected 30 nests (26 in Sicily, 2 in Puglia and 2 in Calabria), confirming a positive trend that certainly is ascribable as a result of the Euroturtles project.

In fact, in 2017, the monitored nests were 15 with 329 hatchlings and in 2018 the operators have identified and protected 26 nests (23 in Sicily, 2 in Puglia and 1 in Basilicata), with 1292 newborns.
