Contribution to the protection of sea turtles in Cyprus during their spawning season with proper environmental behavior

The end of May and the spawning season of sea turtles (Caretta caretta and Chelonia mydas) has begun on the beaches of Cyprus. The life cycle of sea turtles is closely linked to the coast, since every year during the summer the adult females come out of the sea at night to lay their eggs on the beaches. The Department of Fisheries and Marine Research (DFMR) urges citizens to demonstrate appropriate environmental behavior when they spot a sea turtle trying to lay its eggs.
